U.S. Congress

We’re joining with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and calling on Congress to  pass legislation in the House and Senate to stop U.S. companies from offshoring customer service jobs. If passed, it would make companies that offshore call center jobs ineligible for certain federal grants and tax-payer funded loans. These bills also would require U.S. callers to be told the geographic location of the call centers they’ve been connected to and offered the opportunity to be connected to U.S.-based call centers.

In recent years, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and other companies have closed call centers in the United States and sent thousands of valuable service-sector jobs overseas.

Offshoring destroys America’s families, depresses our wages and turns U.S. jobs into poverty-level jobs overseas, while putting U.S. consumers’ personal and financial information at risk.

I urge you to stand up for working Americans by co-sponsoring H.R. 1300 or S. 515 to stop call center offshoring.
