All Kids Deserve Small Class Sizes

New York City Public Schools and NYCPS Class Size Working Group

All kids deserve smaller class sizes. Special interest groups disregard this fundamental principle as they demand that particular schools be exempt from the Class Size Law, which reduces class size in New York City Public Schools.

Equitable implementation of this law means that all NYC public school students have the right to smaller classes.

Every student, regardless of their school’s standing, needs and deserves the close attention and feedback that only smaller classes can provide. Large classes leave students under-supported, regardless of a school’s achievement.

We urge the Class Size Working Group and the Department of Education to adopt an inclusive approach, ensuring all New York City Public Schools comply with the initiative to reduce class sizes so all students may benefit from this critical legislation.

Sincerely,
