Bay Area residents deserve better transit - support a robust transportation funding measure

Bay Area local, regional, and state representatives

Bay Area transit needs to be much better, but it’s at risk of becoming much worse due to funding shortfalls. Right now, our elected officials are making important decisions about the size and scope of a 2026 regional transportation ballot measure that could transform Bay Area transit.

Please sign this petition telling your elected officials that you support a ballot measure that fully prevents service cuts, improves service frequency and reliability, expands transit to more communities, creates a better coordinated transit network for the whole nine-county Bay Area and raises funds through progressive revenue sources. All Bay Area residents deserve a fast, affordable, better integrated, and accessible public transit network. A nine-county ballot initiative with robust funding is the best way to achieve this vision.

Without an abundant regional measure, many transit agencies will be forced to slash service: stranding riders, clogging our roads, fouling our air, and stalling our economy. Bay Area residents will be left with worse transit service and it will be much harder to implement the changes needed to make riding transit a seamless experience. For the region to meet its climate, economic growth, affordability, air quality, public health, and justice goals we need drastically improved transit service.

We urge you to support a 9-county regional measure that benefits all Bay Area residents, prevents service cuts, makes transit more frequent, improves transit coordination amongst agencies, and raises money from progressive revenue sources.

Bay Area residents deserve to be able to depend on transit to travel locally and across the region.

Bay Area transit needs to be much better, but it’s at risk of becoming much worse due to funding shortfalls. I urge you to support a 9-county regional measure that raises $1.5 billion or more annually, includes progressive revenue sources, prevents service cuts, improves service frequency and reliability, includes policies that enhance transit coordination amongst agencies, and expands transit to more communities.

All Bay Area residents deserve a fast, affordable, better integrated, and accessible public transit network. A 9-county ballot initiative with robust funding is the best way to achieve this vision.

As Bay Area residents and workers, our lives take us across city and county lines. But unlike the seamless driving experience that connects all local, county and state roads, our transit experience is far from smoothly coordinated. Lack of coordination makes transit unnecessarily difficult, holds back ridership, and puts a heavy toll on people who depend on transit and those with long commutes due to our region’s housing affordability crisis. A regional measure that vastly improves coordination amongst all 27 Bay Area transit agencies is critically important.

Bay Area residents deserve to be able to depend on transit for our various mobility needs in our neighborhoods and throughout the wider community.

Thank you for your consideration.
