Disney’s most beloved stories are part of sprawling universes: a galaxy far, far away; an ever-growing team of superheroes; a cadre of fairy tale princesses from diverse kingdoms; a beloved mouse and his friends who have been childhood mainstays for over 100 years. These stories have taught us all so much about standing up for what is right and being a hero.
Behind the scenes, workers within the sprawling Disney universe are struggling to pay rent, access healthcare, and are deeply feeling the effects of exploitation.
"Be A Hero: A Fan Activist Campaign in Support of Disney Workers" is a campaign for Disney fans, by Disney fans, and supported by Fandom Forward, Imperative 21, and the team behind The American Dream and Other Fairy Tales. Joining the Be A Hero community is the first step in a positive, fan-led, and ambitious campaign inviting Disney to have the courage (and supporting them!) to change the rules so they have the freedom to care about their Main Street workers as much as their Wall Street shareholders.

Dear Shareholders of the Walt Disney Company,
We're writing to you as Disney's biggest fans.
Our most beloved stories, made by the Disney Company, are part of sprawling universes: a galaxy far, far away; an ever-growing team of superheroes; a cadre of fairy tale princesses from diverse kingdoms; a beloved mouse and his friends who have been childhood mainstays for over 100 years. These stories have taught us all so much about standing up for what is right and being a hero.
However, we're hearing troubling news that the workers who make the Disney Magic within the sprawling Disney universe are struggling to pay rent¹, access healthcare¹, and are feeling the effects of overwork².
We want to join with you to change the rules and be a new kind of company, one that puts people first. We are imagining a world in which Disney, and all companies, have the freedom to care more about people than profit.
With all of our love, positivity, and creativity, we're asking all of you to Be a Hero in this story - and put forward a shareholder vote to expand your Duty of Care - to include care for workers.
We, as huge Disney fans, want to stand alongside shareholders and show up at the annual shareholder meeting in 2024 to celebrate more than 100 years of magic, vote to change the rules, and say YES to BEING A HERO!
