Bring COVID19 Testing to Low Income Communities!
City of Ottawa, Ottawa Public Health
ACORN members - who are often low wage workers, people with disabilities, seniors, newcomers and people who are otherwise immunocompromised- face barriers to traditional testing centre approaches. Barriers include things such as fear of public transit, having to take multiple buses on unreliable transit, language barriers/lack of internet access to stay informed and not being able to afford taxi fare . So mobile testing brings testing right to them!

After a widely successful mobile testing event on July 11th at Ogilvie North Park which tested 119 adults and children from the Donald St Towers, row houses and surrounding Vanier/Overbrook neighbourhood, ACORN members from Ottawa-Vanier are calling on the City and Public Health to:
- Implement mobile testing that prioritizes low income neighbourhoods with a high density of renters, newcomers, people with disabilities, seniors and those who are otherwise vulnerable to COVID19
-Create a permanent COVID19 assessment centre in Ottawa-Vanier such as at the baseball stadium on Coventry Rd
