Bring Jerome Thompson Back!

James Dolan - Cablevision CEO

When my co-worker at Cablevision called some of my colleagues and me the N-word -- repeatedly -- on Facebook, management gave her a slap on the wrist. Shortly after, Cablevision expanded her responsibilities. When I said in a closed-door meeting that just like slavery is a stain on America, Cablevision's unfair treatment of the Brooklyn workers and union-busting is a stain on their new brand, I was fired. The difference?

I'm pro-union and active in the fight to bargain fairly with my employer for better wages and working conditions. Can you help me fight back against Cablevision? Sign here to tell Cablevision to give me my job back and negotiate with my union fairly for a fair contract.

Three years ago, my co-workers and I started trying to build a union at Cablevision. We voted overwhelmingly to join the Communications Workers of America. Instead of good-faith bargaining, James Dolan and Cablevision have simply met us with intimidation and harassment and the illegal firing of 22 workers.

A few weeks ago, it got even more personal for me when I was fired for making a reasoned argument about our company’s brand. The fact is, they were looking for a reason to fire me. I’ve been with the company for 11 years and have been standing up for my rights for years. Cablevision has made no secret of its hatred for the union, and their willingness to fire union activists. I’m just the latest target. Please help pressure Cablevision by signing my petition to give me my job back and bargain with us in good faith for a fair contract.

Sincerely,

Jerome Thompson

Cablevision should immediately rehire Jerome Thompson, stop using intimidation tactics, and bargain fairly with CWA for a fair contract.
