Canadian Institutions Complicit in Genocide Greenwashing

CLICK ON THE FOLLOWING LINK: STOP COP29: Stop Greenwashing The Artsakh Genocide

COP29, an event meant to foster international cooperation on climate change and environmental issues is exploited by this year's host, Azerbaijan, to greenwash its crimes against humanity and disastrous environmental record.

Join us for a powerful demonstration of solidarity with the Armenian people, who are facing an existential threat from Azerbaijan. Stand firmly against Canadian institutions' (listed at the bottom of this page) complicity in greenwashing the Artsakh genocide of 2023. Let our representatives and delegations know that we won’t remain silenced as Azerbaijani imperialism manifests with impunity, inching closer to their ambition of "erasing Armenia from the map" (Ali Hassanov, aide to “President” Aliyev). Meters away from where our Canadian delegates to COP29 enjoy Baku's caviar diplomacy, the petro-dictatorship of Azerbaijan:

  • holds Armenian hostages in inhumane conditions in violation of international law.
  • heavily invests in disinformation to create a seemingly eco-responsible image that masks its expanding oil industry, which accounts for 90% of its exports.
  • intends to leverage Artsakh, the recently ethnically cleansed region of its indigenous Armenian population, to showcase Illusory 'green' initiatives as part of its broader strategy to gain international legitimacy, further enabling its genocidal agenda and plans to invade Armenia—of which it is already illegally occupying 250 km². There is no such thing as 'net zero' on ethnically cleansed lands.

Your voice matters! By signing this petition, you stand with the Armenian people and against Canada's complicity in enabling genocide. Send an email to complicit institutions by clicking on the following link: STOP COP29: Stop Greenwashing The Artsakh Genocide.

Greetings,

The 11th of November marks the beginning of COP29, an event intended to foster international cooperation on climate change and environmental issues. However, this year’s host country, Azerbaijan, is exploiting the event to greenwash its crimes against humanity and its disastrous environmental record.
I stand firmly against your institution’s complicity in greenwashing the Artsakh genocide of 2023. I refuse to remain silent while Azerbaijani imperialism manifests with impunity, as it inches closer to its ambition of "erasing Armenia from the map" (Ali Hassanov, aide to President Aliyev).
Just meters away from where Canadian delegates to COP29 enjoy Baku's caviar diplomacy, the Azerbaijani petro-dictatorship:
Holds Armenian hostages in inhumane conditions, violating international law.
Heavily invests in disinformation to create a seemingly eco-responsible image that masks its expanding oil industry, which accounts for 90% of its exports.
Intends to leverage Artsakh—recently ethnically cleansed of its indigenous Armenian population—to showcase illusory 'green' initiatives as part of a broader strategy to gain international legitimacy, further enabling its genocidal agenda and plans to invade Armenia, of which it currently occupies 250 km² illegally.

There is no such thing as 'net zero' on ethnically cleansed lands.
I strongly urge you to:
Withdraw from COP29 immediately.
Publicly condemn the event as an endorsement of actions that contravene fundamental human rights and environmental principles. In your condemnation, I encourage you to express support for:
The immediate release of all Armenian hostages.
The guaranteed right for indigenous Armenians to return to and live safely in their ancestral lands in Artsakh.
An agreement free from expansionist demands and the return of 250 km² of internationally recognized Armenian territories currently under Azeri occupation.

This impunity must end now. I hope you will choose to raise our voice rather than remain complicit.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to your response.
