With millions of working people filing for unemployment every week, Americans are going further into debt with no end in sight. Meanwhile, the next round of rent and mortgage payments is around the corner.
No one should have to choose between putting food on the table or keeping a roof over their head. We must cancel rent and mortgage payments during this pandemic — and make sure tenants and mortgage holders don’t have a backlog of payments after the crisis is over.
Ilhan introduced the Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act to deliver Americans much-needed relief from rent and mortgage payments. And we need a surge of grassroots support to help make sure it becomes law. Add your name to call on Congress to cancel rent and mortgage payments during this crisis.
