If, like us, you care about animals and hate seeing horses killed for sport, then please sign and share this petition calling for an end to the Grand National Horse Race.

Last year, Hill Sixteen died jumping over the first hurdle of the Grand National. His brutal death was broadcast live on television and watched by 600 million people. In 2024, this is the furthest thing from entertainment.

Two others, Envoy Special and Dark Raven, were also killed during the Grand National weekend. For them and for the horses that die every other day on British racetracks, please sign the petition and share it as widely as possible.

In case you are still on the fence, here are some facts about British horseracing:

• On average, a horse dies every other day on British racetracks. Put another way, the odds of a horse being killed during the Grand National are 2-1. Source

• Sixty-eight horses have been killed at the Aintree track alone (in various races) since 2007.

• Horseracing is the only "sport" where animals are legally allowed to be beaten in public. An equine skin structure and nerve supply study showed that humans and horses feel roughly the same pain from being whipped. The whipping of humans was made illegal in Britain in the Criminal Justice Act of 1967

• Until a rule change in 2022, horses who were not strong or fast enough to race were often sent to slaughterhouses. In 2021, half of all British and Irish horses that went to slaughter held racing industry passports.

• Last year's YouGov Poll showed that 54% of people think the Grand National is cruel to horses, while only 12% think it is not.

It is time to build a society that is kind to animals.

It is time to end the Grand National.
