The Drag could be going car-free!

But opponents are working hard to defeat this exciting vision.

** Sign this petition NOW and show your support before it's too late. **

The Project Connect team has proposed an AMAZING plan (known as Scenario C2*) for a car-free Drag (Guadalupe St from 22nd-29th) that would include:

  • Light rail and fast buses
  • Protected bicycle lanes on BOTH sides of the street
  • Beautiful wide sidewalks for cafes, trees, and pedestrians

Imagine how incredible this would be! The Drag would become far more beautiful and pleasant. Trains, buses, and bicycles would glide smoothly along without any automobile traffic. Instead of loud cars, we'll enjoy bustling sidewalks, outdoor cafes, and the calming sound of trains and voices.

We CAN win this, but only with YOUR help

Despite broad public support for this stunning car-free design, opponents are pushing hard to defeat this proposal and keep the Drag as a dangerous, loud, and unpleasant car-filled thoroughfare. If those opponents win, we'll lose this opportunity for at least a generation.

This is URGENT: Sign this petition now. Then spread the word to everyone you know. We can do this!

* Scenario C2 would include dedicated protected bicycle lanes and a shared right-of-way for light rail and buses. This would be far better than Scenario C1 where bikes and buses would share a lane, meaning buses would get caught behind bikes and less confident bicycle riders might stay away. Find out more.

I call on you to move forward with Project Connect's C2 Scenario for a car-free Drag (Guadalupe between 22nd and 29th Streets.) This would include light rail and buses, with dedicated protected bike lanes and wide sidewalks. This exciting car-free design would be a generational change for Austin. I strongly support it and ask you to do the same.
