Representing All Voices for the BCSC Superintendent Search
Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation School Board
The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) School Board is about to start interviewing applicants for a new superintendent. At this time, the school board intends to interview all superintendent candidates without participation from teachers, support staff, administrators, community members, or parents.
In years past, the Corporation Continuous Improvement Council (CCIC) has conducted superintendent interviews and recommended a final candidate to the BCSC School Board. We urge the school board to involve CCIC in superintendent interviews for the following reasons:
- The CCIC has been tasked with the continuous improvement of the school corporation at all levels, which includes the superintendent's office;
- CCIC has representation from a variety of stakeholders, including,
- Teachers
- Administrators
- A school board member
- Other elected figures in our community
- Community members
- Representatives from other community institutions
- Parents;
- This would be consistent with past practice;
- The makeup of the BCSC School Board's demographics does not reflect the demographics of either the school corporation's staff or its students.
It is imperative that the BCSC School Board involve CCIC with interviewing and selecting the next superintendent of our corporation in order to promote continuous collaboration and improvement amongst all stakeholders in our diverse community.
