Congress: Don’t Let Kids Go Hungry At School!

Congress

School lunch

Update: June 27, 2022 -- Congress just passed the Keep Kids Fed Act , which extends free school meals for all children through the summer. This is an exciting victory and vital first step, but now they must pass universal free school meals for the 2022-23 school year. Add your name below and together we will keep up the pressure to make it happen!

13 million kids in the US don’t have enough to eat. To help, since the start of the pandemic millions of kids have been getting free meals at school and during summer break.

If Congress doesn’t act, the program will end on June 30, leaving millions more children hungry at school this summer, through the next school year, and for the foreseeable future.

Add your name to tell Congress must extend USDA’s nationwide waiver authority without delay so children and families can focus on education, not where they will get their next meal.

13 million kids in the US don’t have enough to eat, and this crisis will only get worse if Congress fails to extend USDA’s nationwide waiver authority through School Year 2022-2023. Millions of families are still struggling with the pandemic and the USDA needs the continued flexibility to respond and ensure that the federal child nutrition programs continue to operate and provide healthy snacks and meals to students. We urge Congress to give the USDA the ability to best address child hunger by extending its waiver authority without delay.
