Stop the needless eviction of Lacey and her daughter

crowd with protest signs including "Corcoran Jennison Don't Evict"

CMJ / Corcoran Jennison is supposed to manage affordable housing at Quaker Meadows in Lynn, MA -- not look for excuses to hurt families. So why are they evicting this mom and daughter from the home they've lived in for over 10 years with no good reason?

This company receives public funds to help provide stable, affordable housing that is needed by the working class and low income majority in this city. Making a family homeless because rent payments were overdue by a matter of a few days makes no sense, especially when Lacey was only late because she was in and out of ERs and hospitals due to a family member's extremely serious medical emergencies.

Please stop the needless eviction of Lacey Young-Falasca and her young daughter from your Quaker Meadows property in Lynn, MA.

Forcing this family out the place they've called home for over 10 years would do immense damage to them and to the community. Not only would you be making a family homeless, you would also be tearing a young student away from the high school where she just got a fresh start after a difficult year. And you would be jeopardizing the health of a person struggling with extremely serious medical conditions. All of this would also harm the local community.

Lacey struggled over the past year as she supported a family member with horrific health issues that meant repeated medical crisis and one trip after another to emergency rooms and hospitals. But she found a way to regain her balance, got current on rent, and put in place a rep payee to ensure timely payments going forward. She has provided documents including paystubs and tax information and is ready and able to submit any other recertification papers that are requested.

What is the harm to CMJ / Corcoran Jennison in halting this eviction? Rent is being paid and will continue to be paid. There are not issues with lease violations -- to the contrary, Lacey has been a good tenant. She is one of the youngest tenants in her building and often helps older residents by clearing snow, carrying bags up stairs, and generally looking out for her neighbors.

In the past CMJ / Corcoran Jennison prided itself on having a positive impact on communities and providing quality housing for working class and low income people. We are asking you to show that those values are still alive even as the company has grown.

Sincerely,
