Governor John Bel Edwards

SB189 would take $50 million in CARES funding away from the city of New Orleans. Funding does and should go to small businesses through the Paycheck Protection Program, which is still distributing loans. But businesses cannot exist on an island - they require trash pickup, fire protection, affordable housing for their employees, and permitting to function. This CARES funding is meant for communities and should go to communities.
