Demand Accountability from the Tallahassee Police Department

Jack Campbell, State Attorney, 2nd Judicial Circuit

Stop Corruption and Misconduct in the Tallahassee Police Department Sign the Petition City Manager Reese Goad Help Us With Our Next Win

The current culture in the Tallahassee Police Department has been marred by injustice and a lack of accountability. There have been allegations of corruption, misconduct and negligence. Even worse, it was recently discovered that one of their officers was involved in illegal drug use while on the job.

This is an egregious breach of public trust and an affront to our justice system. No law enforcement officer should be above the law, yet it appears that the Tallahassee Police Department has failed to hold its officer accountable for his wrongdoings. This injustice and hypocrisy must end.
Therefore, we, the undersigned, are calling on Jack Campbell, State Attorney, 2nd Judicial Circuit launch an investigation into the illicit drug use of one of their officers. We also demand that the officer be held to the same standard of justice that all of us should be held to and that the Tallahassee Police Department no longer allow its officers to act with impunity.

Dear Mr. Campbell,

We, the residents of Florida’s Second Judicial Circuit, come to you with a serious concern. Recently, we have learned that an unnamed Tallahassee Police Department tested positive for illegal drugs on multiple occasions. The City Manager Reese Goad, and TPD Chief Lawrence Revell took no action to remove this individual from the force. We consider this an extreme breach of justice and would like for all cases the unnamed officer has been involved in to be reevaluated and retried if needed.

We are appalled by the lack of action from Goad and Revell, who have failed to protect us from this police officer’s bias, disregard, and incompetence due to his substance abuse. Not only should this individual be removed from his duties as a police officer, but all decisions he has been involved in should be questioned as his judgment may have been impaired due to his use of drugs.

Therefore, we humbly request that the State Attorney’s Office, under the direction of Mr. Jack Campbell, conduct a full review of all cases in which this police officer was involved and retry those cases if needed. We must ensure the safety and security of our community, and holding individuals who put us in danger accountable is a must.

Thank you for your time and consideration of this request.

Sincerely,
The people of the Second Judicial Circuit
