Demand the release of DACA recipient Miguel!

Judge Crimilda Guilloty

Despite having DACA, my son Miguel Reyes Garcia was detained on December 1st, 2017. His DACA was recently renewed in November 2017 and doesn’t expire until November 2019.

As my son was driving to get coffee in the morning, less than half a  mile away from our home, ICE agents pulled him over and demanded to see an ID. When Miguel showed them his driver’s license, they proceeded to ask for proof of citizenship. Miguel then showed them his work permit granted through DACA. They rejected it, stating it wasn’t a sufficient form of ID. They then detained him and sent him to a detention camp.

Miguel has been in the US since the age of 9. All he knows is New Jersey. That’s why he was so excited to start his own landscaping business here in his state. He finally felt safe enough to with DACA. He never thought he would be in the position that he is today. Miguel should not be in a detention camp, and he wouldn’t be if Congress passed permanent protections like the Dream Act.

Please sign this petition to ask Judge Crimilda Guilloty grant bond for Miguel and close his case.
