It’s time for action. In July 2021, President Biden issued an Executive Order on Promoting Competition in the American Economy.
The Biden Administration needs to move forward and address the monopolistic corporate control of the U.S. livestock market, for the betterment of family farms, consumers and our food and national security.
Today, four multinational corporations control over 80% of the U.S. beef market. They use this control to both depress prices paid to family farm livestock producers and raise prices for consumers.
And, as we’ve witnessed from the COVID pandemic, when disaster strikes, centralized corporate control of our food system puts our supply chain and national food security at risk.

We as family farmers, ranchers and consumers across the USA demand that the Biden Administration immediately:
1. Enact and enforce rules to rein in corporate control and stop packers from manipulating markets, depressing prices, and using discriminatory practices against family farm livestock producers.
2. Close the loophole that allows for imported livestock and meat to be labeled as "product of the U.S.A." and work with Congress to reinstate mandatory Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) for meat and poultry and expand it to include dairy products.
President Biden – we need these rules now, while they can still make a difference!
