Our fight for 100% Homegrown Energy
Dunedin City Council
Our communities deserve 100% clean, renewable energy that is generated locally and empowers our community. Together we are pushing for our local politicians to invest in affordable clean energy, support energy sovereignty, and enable communities to be part of the solution by asking the Dunedin City Council to:
1. Support Green Island Landfill to be transformed into a Solar Farm to power the Dunedin Wastewater Treatment Plant.
2. Secure funding for Moana Pool to decarbonise and be heated with clean renewable energy (away from LPG).
3. Commit to a more ambitious heat pump installation and insulation programme and support households to transition away from coal heating.

Our communities deserve 100% clean, renewable energy that is generated locally and empowers our community.
Ōtepoti, like the rest of the Aotearoa, is currently being powered by polluting fossil fuels that are damaging our climate, causing financial hardship, and affecting the health of our people.
Today, I am adding my name and joining 350 Ōtepoti in calling on you to end energy injustice and support our local communities by:
1. Supporting Green Island Landfill to be transformed into a Solar Farm to power the Dunedin Wastewater Treatment Plant.
2. Securing funding for Moana Pool to decarbonise and be heated with clean renewable energy (away from LPG).
3. Commit to a more ambitious heat pump installation and insulation programme and support households to transition away from coal heating.
In all of these, we want you to support more community-controlled renewable energy as this gives people greater access to and ownership over their local energy systems and strengthen community ties.
We can’t keep powering our lives with polluting fuels from the last century, but together we can achieve homegrown energy by having the DCC invest and kickstart the fast and just transition.
