We call on moviegoers around the world to join us in boycotting all screenings of Marvel's Captain America: Brave New World and Disney's Snow White remake. By doing so, we will be sending these companies a message that their complicity in whitewashing - and therefore enabling - Israel's ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people will not be rewarded.
Captain America: Brave New World and Snow White, both due for release in early 2025, are attempts by Marvel and Disney to normalize anti-Palestinian racism and cover up Israel’s ongoing carnage in Gaza.
The latest film in the Captain America franchise revives an anti-Palestinian character, Ruth Bat-Seraph aka “Sabra”, who first appeared in the Marvel universe in 1980 as an operative for Israel’s criminal Mossad. After receiving backlash, Marvel announced that they would revise (but not remove) the character. Despite superficial changes, the character’s portrayal by actor Shira Haas, an Israeli government propaganda spokesperson who volunteered to join the IDF despite an exemption, only makes the character’s racist backstory even worse.
In addition, Marvel’s parent company Disney is remaking Snow White featuring one of Hollywood’s most vocal propagandists for Israel’s genocide - actor and former IDF soldier Gal Gadot - in the role of the Evil Queen.
We amplify the growing calls of Palestinian filmmakers “to do everything humanly possible to stop and end complicity with this unspeakable horror; and stand against working with production companies that are deeply complicit in dehumanizing Palestinians, or whitewashing and justifying Israel’s crimes against us.” The decision of Marvel and Disney leadership to platform ambassadors to Israel’s settler-colonial regime makes both Captain America and Snow White complicit in violations of Palestinian human rights.
Are you willing to take a stand for Palestinian rights by pledging to boycott all screenings of these films?

I will not attend any screenings of Captain America: Brave New World or Snow White in protest of the direct and indirect ways that these movies glorify Israel’s genocidal campaign against Indigenous Palestinian peoples and lands. Your complicity in platforming anti-Palestinian characters like Ruth Bat-Seraph and apartheid Israel ambassadors like actors Shira Haas and Gal Gadot, through the making and marketing of these films, cannot be ignored or made profitable.
