End Clawbacks

David C. Woll - Nominee for Assistant Secretary of HUD

We have a new opportunity to push for RREM clawback forgiveness at the Federal Level - where the problem started in the first place.

A man named David C. Woll has been nominated to be Assistant Secretary of HUD (currently he’s Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Community Planning and Development.).

We want to send a clear message to Woll and get 1,000 signatures on his desk.

Superstorm Sandy survivors continue to suffer even after they have made it through their recovery and are home. Many are facing clawbacks from the RREM program because of HUD requirements, the same program that assisted them in getting funding to rebuild their lives. The very program that was to help Sandy survivors continues to haunt them more than seven years after the storm.

Many, many mistakes were made. Flood insurance corporations underpaid us, so much that FEMA was forced to reopen Sandy claims and more than $250,000,000 in additional funds were given out.. Our paperwork was lost, we got bad information from the program, and when rental assistance ended or there were gaps when it shut down, we had to do what we could to keep a roof over our heads.

We have a disaster recovery system that is outdated and difficult for families who have gone through the worst moments in their lives.

Superstorm Storm Sandy stole our homes, personal property and security. Seven years have passed and we continue to suffer. We need RREM Clawback forgiveness to feel whole and finally heal.

Sincerely,

New Jersey Organizing Project
