End the incarceration of migrant children Now!
The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate
UPDATE: Trump's executive order didn't fix this. 2,300 children are still separated from their parents, and now families will be imprisoned.
The details, via AP: "The order does not end the 'zero-tolerance' policy that criminally prosecutes all adults caught crossing the border illegally. But, at least for the next few weeks, it would keep families together while they are in custody, expedite their cases and ask the Defense Department to help house them. It also doesn’t change anything yet for the some 2,300 children taken from their families since the policy was put into place."
Take action now. sign the petition to support the Keep Families Together Act.
Children should not be torn from from their families at the border. Those who migrated alone, fleeing violence and abuse, deserve to be cared for. The billions of taxpayer dollars invested in DHS detention prisons and now proposed tent cities need to be reinvested into the proper care and support of these children now.
We know that Trump could end the policy of separating immigrant children from their parents at the border. It's his policy, and he should be the one to reverse it.
But we all know that Trump won't do it, even though the everyone from the Pope and evangelical leaders to GOP Members of Congress have joined with progressives to decry the policy.
Since we can't rely on Trump, we need to find another way to end this immoral, inhumane policy.
The Keep Families Together Act was introduced by California Sen. Dianne Feinstein this month after the Trump administration started instituting his “zero tolerance” immigration policy, under which anyone who crosses the border illegally will be prosecuted.
All 49 Democrats have co-sponsored this bill. No Republicans have signed on. The legislation which would prohibit children from being separated from their parents within 100 miles of the U.S. border except for instances of abuse, neglect or other specific circumstances. This would end the abhorrent policy immediately.

Separating children from their parents is immoral and illegal under international law.
I urge you to support the Keep Families Together Act which will end the policy of separating children from their parents within 100 miles of the US border and will reunite separated families.
