I support A People's Proposal, the development proposed by the E 12th Wishlist Design Team and Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA), and I urge the Oakland City Council to select this development for the E 12th parcel. This proposal is an opportunity for the City of Oakland to support a model of community-centered affordable development. The E 12th Wishlist Design Team / SAHA proposal maximizes the number of new low-income, affordable housing units, and includes a range of other spaces requested by the residents. It is a design developed from an authentic community engagement process, and the proposal's team has the experience to make this exciting vision a reality.

The City of Oakland cannot afford to sell off our public lands for a luxury apartment tower in the midst of a housing affordability crisis; public land should be used for public good! I urge Oakland City Council members to demonstrate their commitment to housing equity and addressing the housing crisis in Oakland by selecting the E 12th Wishlist Design Team / SAHA proposal for development on the E 12th parcel.
