WEG: Return our 2.5 hours and pay hazard pay for hazardous work!
Since the start of the pandemic, our members have remained tirelessly committed to their work. As essential workers, we recognize that our work keeps the American economy moving! As essential workers, our members deserve to be compensated the hazard pay they deserve! There is now a serious outbreak at WEG, with 24 new cases of Covid-19 in our facilities. Our members take a risk going to work every day and deserve to be compensated for that risk!
Instead of hazard pay, WEG stole 2.5 hours from our members! This is unacceptable! Sign the petition demanding the WEG provide hazard pay for essential work!

As workers at the WEG Washington, MO plant, we are proud to provide an essential service to the American public. However, every time we report to work, we understand that we are putting ourselves, our families, and our communities at risk of catching Covid-19. There are currently 24 new cases of covid-19 in our facilities and that number continues to grow. It is more important now than ever that our leadership sends the message to workers that they are safe when they report to work, and that they are appreciated for the extra precautions and risk that they are taking.
In addition to a return to our regular pay that we would already be earning, we are requesting the following for our members: A show up to work premium bonus of $20 a day per employee if an employee works the scheduled hours that day. For example, if an employee shows up to work Monday through Friday and works all scheduled hours each day, then that employee would be compensated $100 extra on that week's check. In addition, the Union also requests that employees are to be paid if an employee misses work due to Covid-19 in anyway shape or form.
We are not unreasonable and we feel this is a small price to pay and a huge morale booster for our workforce. Our members are painstakingly taking every precaution necessary to do their work safely, while also continuing to do their jobs effectively. We recognize the added level of stress this puts on our members and, like other companies of similar size, are calling on WEG to reward all active employees with extra compensation throughout the duration of the pandemic.
