Extend the NY Eviction Moratorium, Distribute Rent Relief Now!

Kathy Hochul

Governor Kathy Hochul should act quickly and extend the NY Eviction Moratorium until the end of June 2022 and get rental assistance into people's hands as fast as possible.

The NY Eviction Moratorium has kept renters safe and protected for the duration of the pandemic. Andrew  Cuomo's Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) was a colossal failure and New York renters still owe thousands of dollars in unpaid rent. Of the 2.6 Billion allocated to rental assistance, only 4% has been distributed. It's unacceptable to allow evictions in the wake of such a failure.

It is essential for New York's new leadership to turn the page on #CuomosHousingCrisis.Governor Kathy Hochul can work with the NY State Legislature to extend the eviction moratorium, fix ERAP and distribute rental assistance as soon as possible.

On August 31 New York's eviction moratorium will expire. And for the first time in decades, Andrew Cuomo -- real estate's best friend -- will not be in power.

As you take over as Governor, please act quickly and extend the NY Eviction Moratorium until the end of June 2022 and get rental assistance into people's hands as fast as possible.

The NY Eviction Moratorium has kept renters safe and protected for the duration of the pandemic. Andrew Cuomo's Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) was a colossal failure and New York renters still owe thousands of dollars in unpaid rent. Of the 3.5 Billion allocated to rental assistance, less than 1% has been distributed. It's unacceptable to allow evictions in the wake of such a failure.

You have the opportunity to turn the page on #CuomosHousingCrisis. We urge you to work with the NY State Legislature to extend the eviction moratorium, fix ERAP and distribute rental assistance as soon as possible.
