Fair and Equitable First Contract at Bennington College by Thanksgiving
Laura Walker, Bennington College President
Bennington College United (BCU), the union of staff, faculty and campus safety at Bennington College won recognition of their majority in February of 2024. Eight months later, the Bennington management team has only made proposals on eleven articles (zero economic articles).
Our Union proposals are all designed to attract and retain staff, faculty and campus safety employees so that students get the Bennington College education they deserve.
Our proposals include:
Livable wages, increases to keep up with the cost of living and an equity pool to raise up inequitable salaries.
Union rights for all employees–-even if they are part-time/per diem.
A real grievance procedure for all issues including discrimination, job security, maintaining our standards, and violations of the law.
Guaranteed professional development funds for all staff, campus safety, and faculty members.
Accountability and transparency for all at Bennington College, including management, faculty, staff and campus safety.
