Fair Contract For Middleton Educators

Middleton School Committee

Educators in Middleton are fighting for a fair contract, one that begins to address the pay inequities in the district. Middleton Educators Association members who educate students in grades preK to 6 are paid substantially less than their peers teaching the same student population once these students move to the Masconomet Regional School District for middle school and high school. Pay for educators in Middleton is also low in comparison to surrounding communities and comparable districts across the state. The inadequate pay contributes to educator turnover, poor morale among educators in the district, and difficulty in attracting highly qualified candidates to teach in the Middleton Public Schools.

Those signing this petition urge the Middleton School Committee to immediately settle a fair contract with the Middleton Educators Association. Educators in Middleton have been underpaid for far too long. Educators are working incredibly hard to address the needs of students, especially given the profound changes the COVID-19 pandemic brought to our schools. Rising inflation has exacerbated the impact of inadequate pay for Middleton educators. It is time to invest in the Middleton Public Schools and pay Middleton educators salaries that are comparable to those paid to their peers teaching at the Masconomet Regional middle and high schools, as well as those in surrounding and comparable districts.
