Fair Election for Friends PDX Workers
Board, Friends of the Children Portland

On Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 9:00 am, a strong majority of employees of Friends of the Children presented a petition to the non-profit's executive leadership asking for voluntary recognition of their new union, named FriendsPDX Union Network (FUN). Over 50 employees are now asking their employer to not interfere, deter, or bust their union effort.
By signing this petition you will be helping demonstrate our community's commitment to these workers and the children that they serve.

Friends of the Children Portland-
We the undersigned are writing to support the employees at your organization in their efforts to form a labor union, and encourage the Board to support, with no undue interference or deterrence, the right of your workers to have a fair union election.
Your organization has an important role in the Portland community. The staff of Friends of the Children perform life changing outreach and mentorship to high priority communities, helping them develop skills and abilities which last for decades to come. This work relies on the employees of the organization who pour countless hours, and their hearts, towards success. As you know, these amazing outcomes are only possible when organizations like yours are able to retain staff.
The ability of working people to join unions and collectively bargain for their working conditions is a fundamental right. The freedom to form and join a union helps working people to support their communities and the ones they love because when unions are strong, they make conditions more fair for workers, bring a collaborative voice to the table, and help close racial and gender gaps. We firmly believe that FriendsPDX Union Network will be a benefit to the youth you serve and to the community at large.
We support the goals and mission of your nonprofit organization, the communities that you serve, and the staff who are seeking a fair election for their union, FriendsPDX Union Network.
