Fair Maps Petition to end gerrymandering in Onondaga County

Onondaga County Legislature

Voters should choose their politicians, not the other way around. Central New York is leading the way on independent redistricting in New York, and in the nation. Last November, we voted in favor of a historic ballot proposition establishing an independent redistricting commission to draw districts for the City of Syracuse.

Syracuse was just the first step — in 2020, we have the opportunity to end gerrymandering in Onongada County, and we're calling on the Onondaga County Legislature to expand independent redistricting beyond Syracuse and establishing an independent, citizen-led redistricting commission in Onondaga County this year.
