Fast for Our Families
Doug Parker, CEO, American Airlines
The Fast for Our Families began Monday, January 27, when a group of airline catering workers and their allies began a six-day fast outside the departures level of the Miami International Airport.
Sign now to send the postcard below telling American Airlines CEO Doug Parker to take action to end poverty in the airline catering industry.
The airline catering workers participating in the Fast for Our Families, members of UNITE HERE Local 355, work for contractor LSG Sky Chefs and primarily service American Airlines. Currently unable to pay bills or provide healthcare for their families, the Fasters hope their 24-hour-a-day, no-food, no-juice fast during the week leading up to Super Bowl LIV in Miami will draw attention to the dire poverty they face every day.
American Airlines, which has named MIA one of its most important U.S. hubs, earned $1.9 billion in profits in 2018, but more than 70% of the LSG Sky Chefs catering workers at who service American at MIA earn below the living wage set for other airport employees.
Sign now and Fasters will write a postcard with your name to American's CEO.

I learned today that several catering workers who service your aircraft are participating in a six-day fast at Miami International Airport to call attention to poverty wages and unaffordable health insurance in their industry.
I support the Fast for Our Families and believe that workers in Miami and around the country shouldn't struggle to pay bills and take their families to the doctor.
It's time for American Airlines to fix this problem. Workers in your industry shouldn't have to sacrifice food and drink for you to take action and ensure they earn a living wage and afford health care.
