On Monday, June 1st, local Black Lives Matter organizer, Clifton White was detained and arrested by the Albuquerque Police Department after lawfully observing the arrests of four Albuquerque teens during one of the demonstrations against police brutality in Albuquerque. Police had no reason to arrest Clifton White. Clifton White has been targeted by APD for his work as an organizer for Black Lives in the City of Albuquerque. We demand Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham order the release of Clifton White and begin an investigation into the practices and procedures of the Albuquerque Police Department and the Department of Corrections so that no other individual in this state is targeted based on their work as a community organizer.
