Free David Yarde
Suffolk County Conviction Integrity Unit
David Yarde was wrongfully convicted of second degree murder in 2012. He has been incarcerated since the age 22. David has maintained his innocence since his arrest. He did not receive a fair trial and the evidence used against him was insubstantial. We hope you will sign this petition to get DA Rollins’ Conviction Integrity Unit to review David’s case.
David has overwhelming evidence proving his wrongful conviction, including three expert witness reports showing definitive proof of innocence. In 2017, the first forensics expert, along with two other experts, reviewed the conviction in David's case and came to the conclusion that it was impossible for David to have shot the victim. This evidence scientifically proved his innocence. The prosecution recovered evidence that proved they charged the wrong person and still persisted to ignore this information as well as the inconsistencies from key witness statements during trial. According to the guidelines of the Conviction Integrity’s Unit, David’s case provides another opportunity for the Commonwealth to “continue the critically important task of identifying, correcting, and preventing wrongful convictions.”
David is deeply loved and missed by his friends and family. David’s mother and family live in their home country of Barbados. He is a father of a 9 year old son, Joshua, who needs him home. Joshua currently is living with acute medical conditions, including verbal and physical disabilities as well as a recent hip surgery. Parental incarceration is a deeply traumatic experience that Joshua should not have to endure. David is not only fighting to come home for himself but also to be able to take care of his son.
David has continued to remain positive and productive throughout his incarceration. His beloved family and friends ask you to please sign and share this petition to urge the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office to review his case and correct this wrongful conviction.
Thank you so much for publicly supporting David’s freedom.
