Lexington ran out of emergency rental assistance funds in late November. This assistance helped thousands of Kentuckians stay in their homes. Recently, LFUCG councilmembers decided not to devote a portion of the city's budget surplus to continuing to provide rental assistance to people facing eviction.

Tell your councilmember that housing is first! Preventing evictions is the right thing to do for our neighbors and for our already strained safety net programs. Preventing homelessness costs money, but not as much as homelessness does. Tell your councilmember you support reallocating $5 million dollars from the capital fund to build a new city hall to a fund dedicated to preventing evictions by providing our neighbors with critically-needed rental assistance.
