It’s time to give Gary schools back to the Gary community, and to respect our voice in our children’s education. It’s time to give our kids the great schools they deserve!
In 2017, the State took over the Gary Community School Corporation—supposedly, solely to fix our district’s $21.5 million deficit and sinking revenues. And under emergency management, Gary's graduation rates have plummeted, from 82 percent in 2017, to 52.73 percent in 2021. They turned our elected school board into a figurehead advisory board—and gave emergency managers total control over all operational decisions. They shut parents and voters out.
