Governor Bruce Rauner: Withdraw Your Support for Donald Trump

Bruce Rauner, Governor of the State of Illinois

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Governor Bruce Rauner, withdraw your support for Donald Trump to be the president of the United States

In March, Governor Rauner declared that he would support the Republican Party's nominee for president, even if it that nominee is Donald Trump. Since then, the governor has refused to withdraw his support for Donald Trump despite Trump's toxic campaign that has degraded women, immigrants, people with disabilities, veterans, and others.

Governor Rauner, it is time for you to do what is right, unequivocally withdraw your support for Donald Trump, and declare that you will not vote for Trump this November.

---

We, the undersigned, call upon Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, the self-declared head of the Illinois Republican Party who said “I will support the nominee” when asked if he would back Donald Trump’s candidacy for President of the United States, to:

  1. Demonstrate moral courage and leadership as the governor for all Illinoisans by putting his state and country above his party
  2. Denounce Donald Trump’s vile attacks on women, people of color, those of faith, citizens with disabilities and veterans
  3. Recognize that his silence represents complicity with Trump’s embrace of white supremacists, Anti-Semites, the Ku Klux Klan and Neo-Nazis
  4. Announce that he withdraws his support for Trump as the Republican nominee for president
  5. Declare he will not vote for Donald Trump to be the president of the United States and ask that his fellow Illinoisans also not vote for Trump
