Hazard Pay and a Living Wage for UTK Dorm Custodians

We call on UTK to provide HAZARD PAY for all dorm custodians at a rate of $2.50 per hour AND to raise base pay so that no dorm custodian makes less than a LIVING WAGE of $15 per hour.
Dorm custodians at UTK are on the front lines fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. They clean every dorm on campus to keep students safe. But they are underpaid, understaffed, and overworked. They are being moved between buildings and potentially exposed to COVID-19 in multiple dorms. Their shifts change frequently, disrupting their lives and their work. They deserve dignity, respect, and pay that honors the importance of our work.
