Before the Supreme Court affirmed a woman's right to choose in Roe v. Wade it was up to the states to decide if a woman had the right to have an abortion.
In New Mexico, we have an archaic law that if the Trump Supreme Court repeals Roe v. Wade, abortion will be illegal again.
That is why I am co-sponsoring HB-7 to repeal the law and ensure that no matter what extremists in Washington DC do, women in New Mexico have the right to make decisions about their bodies.
Extremists from across the country are parachuting into New Mexico to torpedo our efforts and stand in the way of a woman's right to choose.
That is why I am writing to you today.
