HENRY FORD ROCHESTER, STEP UP! UNIFIED DEMAND CRITICAL PAY FOR ALL NURSES!!!

Henry Ford Rochester Hospital Administration - Janay Tull NURSING VP, Kimberly Jackson Labor Relations

We, the undersigned nurses of Henry Ford Rochester Hospital stand united in our commitment to provide exceptional care to our patients and in our demand for critical pay. It is essential that our administration acknowledges the reality we face daily — critical staffing shortages are occurring around the clock, and the safety and well-being of our patients depend on our ability to work in a supportive environment that fairly compensates our efforts.

As outlined in our ongoing discussions, we believe that equitable compensation for our essential work is not only necessary but overdue. However, it is disheartening to note that, at this moment, there is still no critical pay agreement in place. While we understand discussions are set to resume next Thursday, we urge the administration to consider the following points:

1. Increased Workloads: The ongoing demands placed on nursing staff, especially during critical periods, require not only commitment but also recognition through appropriate financial compensation. We are willing to go above and beyond for our patients, but we seek assurance that our efforts will be acknowledged.

2. Patient Care Risks: The current lack of adequate staffing threatens our ability to provide the high-quality care our patients deserve. We cannot, in good conscience, allow our commitment to patient safety to be compromised any longer.

3. Industry Standards: Other hospitals, such as Genesys Hospital, are providing critical pay rates of $40 per hour for similar roles. This highlights a significant disparity compared to the current situation at Henry Ford, where day shift nurses are compensated a mere $10 per hour.—an appalling disparity that is unjustifiable.

4. Commitment to Excellence: We all strive for excellence in patient care, and fair critical pay is a crucial component in motivating and enabling us to deliver the best possible outcomes for our community.

We believe that a fair review and adjustment of our critical pay is not only justified but necessary. Therefore, we respectfully request that the Henry Ford Administration engage in meaningful negotiations to address and resolve the critical pay issue during our meeting next Thursday.

We stand united in our commitment to advocating for our nursing staff and ensuring that we are adequately compensated for the vital roles we play in patient care. We urge you to prioritize a fair resolution that reflects our dedication and the demands of our profession.

**We Demand Action:

- Immediate Approval of Industry Standard Critical Pay for All Shifts: This is not merely a request; it is a necessity for sustaining our workforce and ensuring that competent care is provided at all times.

- Open Lines of Communication: Maintain transparency with our Union leadership regarding decision-making processes and staffing concerns. We expect to be included in discussions that impact our work environment directly.

Together, we are a powerful force committed to the well-being of our patients and one another. We demand recognition of our value and the challenges we face daily in our profession. The time for change is now, and we will accept nothing less than the support we deserve.

We eagerly await your prompt response and hope to see progress on these critical issues. We are ready to stand together in solidarity as we advocate for ourselves, our colleagues, and the patients we serve. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. We look forward to a productive discussion next Thursday.

In unity and strength
