Get buses running directly between our Hospitals

Since the creation of South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust patients and staff remain poorly served by the bus network. If you are needing to minimise walking, in most instances, a typical journey will require at least 2 changes to get to either South Tyneside District Hospital or Sunderland Royal Hospital. Patients, care givers and staff need a fast and efficient way to move from home to appointments, visit their relatives and friends in hospital or simply their place of work.

We call on The North East Joint Transport Committee, Go North East and Stagecoach to put fast and effective routes from your community to our hospitals. The people's needs and requirements from the bus network have changed. The routes must too!

We call on all parties to commission routes that means no one from South Tyneside or Sunderland has to get more than 2 buses between hospital sites.
