Real Clean Energy

Redwood Coast Energy Authority

RCEA promised to provide Humboldt County with 100% clean energy for all by 2025, but their future energy plans include substantial amounts of biomass. Burning mill waste for electricity pollutes our air and emits far more greenhouse gas than replanted trees can absorb in the critical next decade. With nearly one quarter of our electricity coming from biomass, its higher price has used up millions of dollars that could have gone to develop local clean energy and increased efficiency to lower our energy needs.

We the undersigned residents of Humboldt County believe that biomass energy from burning mill waste is not clean. We call on RCEA to create a Comprehensive Energy Plan that will focus our resources on developing clean energy.
