I support Green, Healthy, Comfortable homes for all!

Governor Kathy Hochul

New York is undergoing a massive renewable energy transition, and with that transition comes the opportunity to upgrade, weatherize, and electrify homes and buildings.

However, many New Yorkers have been shut out of the opportunity to live in efficient buildings with good indoor air quality and affordable energy bills, due to hazardous conditions in the home that require fixing. Maintenance needs like leaky roofs and unstable foundations, or pre-existing health hazards like mold, lead, and asbestos block households from accessing home weatherization and electrification funding. The GAP Fund will make our homes safe, covering the cost for those who need it most.

From removing lead and mold, to upgrading hazardous wiring systems, this funding will help us switch to modern, clean, affordable energy that protects the planet, and our health in our homes. Sign our petition to ask Governor Hochul to fund retrofit readiness and ensure that historically-marginalized and excluded groups can access all of the benefits of a clean energy transition, including an efficient, healthy home with affordable heating and cooling!

We need your leadership to solve a longstanding problem that is barring too many New Yorkers from accessing cost-saving energy efficiency retrofits. Too many are forced to live in homes that are making them sick, exacerbating health disparities, and are ill-equipped for increasingly extreme weather. A $200 million program in the state budget to remediate older houses and apartments of low- and moderate-income New Yorkers, readying them for weatherization and electrification, would finally begin to address a hole in existing programs and open up access to state and federal clean energy funding that is currently out of reach for many New Yorkers.
