I Support MiCROWN ACT
Michigan Legislature
Currently, it is legal in Michigan to discriminate against a person in the workplace or in schools because of their natural or protective hairstyle. Hair discrimination remains a source of racial injustice with serious economic consequences for Michigan residents. The CROWN Act corrects these injustices by making hair discrimination illegal.
Join the movement to shatter hair discrimination by signing this petition to urge legislators to vote YES on the MICHIGAN CROWN Act (MiCrown Act).
In July 2019, the first Crown Act bill was drafted and passed in the state of California. So far, the law has passed in seven states or cities: California, Colorado, Cincinnati, New York, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington. This year, State Rep. Sarah Anthony re-introduced HB 4275 to make the CROWN Act a reality in Michigan.
