Members of your TWU Local 556 Negotiating Team have had some very productive conversations with Flight Attendants in the lounges and airports this week. We’ve gotten some great feedback regarding the Contract and we appreciate your creative ideas about how to unify and mobilize our Membership.
One of the most frequent questions we have been asked pertains to last week’s Negotiating Team Update and the comment made by a member of Management.
Your Negotiating Team was as taken aback and offended by this statement as you are. We know our Members are much more than a paycheck. The Members of TWU Local 556 are mothers, fathers, providers, care givers, and the reason Southwest Airlines enjoys record breaking profits year after year.

From the moment I put on a Southwest Airlines Flight Attendant Uniform until I take it off, I am the “face” of one of the greatest success stories in aviation. I am one of the hardest-working and most productive Flight Attendants in the industry. On the Employee shuttle, walking through the airport, on (unpaid) ground time and between flights, waiting on the curb and on the hotel van, I am proud to represent Southwest Airlines.
I expect that Southwest Airlines Management will demonstrate their “appreciation” by presenting the TWU Local 556 Negotiating Team with an agreement that recognizes all that I do, every day, to contribute to the record-breaking profits and success of our great Company.
