Investigate Corrupt City Contractors

San Francisco Board of Supervisors

Every year San Francisco spends $1 billion on programs with no accountability or outcome metrics. You look around the city and wonder, where did all that money go?

We have no standardized approach to knowing if $1 billion of our tax dollars going to nonprofits every year are being put to good use or are being wasted. A recent audit by the SF Controller revealed that we aren’t measuring the effectiveness of these programs.

The nonprofit Baker Places recently asked SF for millions of dollars in bailout money after revelations of gross mismanagement of funds. They even employed an SF Department of Public Health employee and paid her 6 figures for a side job that she wasn’t authorized to take. Just how much tax money have we been wasting?

Another nonprofit TODCO wasted half a million dollars on a ballot proposition this year that was so deeply flawed that it had to be pulled from the ballot. That money should have been used toward more affordable housing.

Supervisor Stefani has identified this as a problem and is asking for legislation to more effectively measure and monitor nonprofits receiving San Francisco money. We support this legislation. We will work with Supervisor Stefani’s office to make sure this legislation passes.

We must demand fiscal responsibility and accountability so that our tax dollars are being used to solve problems, not lining the pockets of ineffective or corrupt nonprofits.

Sign this petition to let the entire Board of Supervisors know that we must use our tax dollars in ways that improve San Francisco, not waste the power of our tax dollars.

Dear SF Supervisors,

I’m writing to share my support to demand accountability for each and every contractor and nonprofit that receives funding or payments from the City of San Francisco. Supervisor Stefani requested legislation be drafted to require a standardized approach to measure efficacy of every nonprofit. I support this initiative.

The effectiveness of every contractor and nonprofit must be evaluated before funding is granted or contracts are renewed.

We have a $14 billion annual budget in San Francisco. I support using every dollar responsibly and wisely.

Thank you!
