Iowa Congresspeople: We need action on housing

Iowa's Congressional Representatives and Senators

Across the United States we are experiencing a housing crisis and it’s hitting Iowa.

  • Over 45% of households in Iowa are spending more than 30% of their income on housing costs.

  • We have the lowest housing stock of the past 10 years.

  • There’s a shortage of over 57,000 homes for extremely low-income renters.

  • Mortgage rates are near 8%.

  • 2,653 individuals on a single given night in 2023 were homeless.

We need action on Iowa’s housing crisis. Homeowner or renter, the housing shortage, underfunding of housing assistance programs, and rising housing costs need intervention from our elected officials. The federal government, as the biggest funder of housing initiatives and programs, is where we need action.

We’re asking that you sign this pledge to tell Iowa’s congresspeople that you’re a passionate supporter of fair, safe, and affordable housing. Every signature and comment will be sent to the Iowa federal representatives and senators to show that Iowans care about housing and want action.
