Iowa Kids Deserve Better

Governor Kim Reynolds & Legislative Republicans

No cuts to public education. No cuts to special needs services. No cuts to mental health.

Iowa House Republicans are planning to debate and vote on the AEA reform bill on Thursday, February 29.  While some pieces are different than the Governor's bill, it is still bad for Iowa kids and families.

Iowans have many concerns about any changes to AEAs that would reduce mental health, special education, reading recovery, and other services provided to kids through Area Education Agencies (AEAs).

Iowans have had enough of Governor Reynolds playing politics with Iowa's public schools. Instead of talking to Iowa parents with kids who use those services or the educators delivering AEA services, the Governor hired an out-of-state private company to tell Iowans what is best.

It’s no secret Iowans are frustrated with politics these days. They are also fierce defenders of public schools and aren’t afraid to fight back when politicians try to take away services like special education and mental health from our kids.

And it’s exactly why so many Iowans are upset about this plan.

Iowa's kids deserve better.

I am part of the thousands of Iowans concerned about a proposal offered by Governor Reynolds that would reduce mental health, special education, reading recovery, and other services provided to kids.

I've had enough of Governor Reynolds playing politics with Iowa's public schools. I am a fierce defender of public schools and I am not afraid to fight back when politicians like you try to take away services like special education and mental health from our kids.

Iowa's kids deserve better.
