It’s time to give HISD teachers and school support personnel a raise!

Houston Independent School District Board of Trustees

Houston Independent School District’s most important asset is its team of teachers and support staff members. The most important investment a school board and community can make is to ensure that teachers and school support personnel are respected and well-supported.

The best way to maintain and attract highly qualified educators to HISD is to make wages for teachers and school staff fair and competitive with neighboring districts. Over the last two years teacher turnover has been rising and experienced teachers are leaving HISD to work at surrounding districts offering better pay and benefits. New teachers miss out on the support and mentoring of experienced staff who have left.  School support personnel that transport student’s safely, serve nutritious meals or provide 1-1 support for students with special needs are forced work multiple jobs or forgo needed medical treatment because they cannot afford it.

Our students need stability in the classroom so they can reach their maximum potential. HISD teachers and support personnel spend countless hours before work and after school to support our students. Now it's time we show our support for them.

Sign this petition to tell members of the Houston Independent School District Board it’s time to invest in our children and Houston schools by giving their teachers and support personnel a REAL pay raise and lowering health care costs.
