All Members of Congress

At a time when support for expanding Social Security is at an all-time high, in Congress and across the country, the Expand Social Security Caucus will give our movement an institutional home in Congress.

In the Senate, the Expand Caucus will be chaired by Senators Bernie Sanders (VT) and Elizabeth Warren (MA). In the House, co-chairs include Representatives Debbie Dingell (MI), Raul Grijalva (AZ), Conor Lamb (PA), John Larson (CT), and Terri Sewell (AL).

Each of these progressive leaders understands that expanding vs. cutting Social Security’s modest benefits is a question of values and choice, not affordability. And when we ask the wealthy to finally pay their fair share, we can expand Social Security’s benefits for millions of Americans.

I am becoming a citizen-member of the Expand Social Security Caucus because I understand that expanding vs. cutting Social Security’s modest benefits is a question of values and choice, not affordability.

Despite the repeated Wall Street-funded lies that try and convince us that Social Security is going broke, the reality is that Social Security has a $2.9 trillion surplus, can pay out ALL benefits owed for approximately the next one-and-a-half decades―until 2034―and 79% of all benefits owed after that.

And all we need is for the wealthy to pay their fair share, and we can expand benefits for millions of Americans. Join me in becoming an early member of the Expand Social Security Caucus.
