Jeff Bezos and Amazon: We Demand Justice for Poushawn Brown

Jeff Bezos & Amazon Executives

Poushawn Brown, was an Amazon employees who died suddenly in January 2021 after being assigned to conduct COVID-19 testing for other employees.  When she was assigned to conduct COVID-19 testing, Poushawn she wasn't given an N95 mask, a face shield, hazard wear or any other protective wear.

Poushawn did not have any medical training nor was she a licensed professional to administer COVID-19 tests - going directly against CDC regulations.  The family initially received 6 weeks of counseling after Pou's death, which was violently insufficient.  They are demanding the following from Amazon:

  • An acknowledgement of wrongdoing and a public apology

  • Financial compensation for:

    • Poushawn’s daughter Gabby, who is a autistic teenager with special needs and support

    • Home health care for Poushawn’s mother whose health problems have been exacerbated after her death and whose care now falls to her mom’s sole daughter, Tina Brown

  • Putting protocols in place to make sure this that no other workers are forced to illegally conduct COVID-19 testing

Dear Jeff Bezos and Amazon Executives,
We are writing to demand justice for Poushawn Brown, one of your employees who died suddenly after being assigned to conduct COVID-19 testing for other employees. Poushawn only had a basic mask to wear to conduct the testing in - no N95 mask, no face shield, no hazard wear, nothing. She also had no medical training nor was not a licensed professional to administer COVID-19 tests - going directly against CDC regulations as you knew then and know now.

Poushawn sent multiple emails to supervisors pleading for better sanitation protocols to be implemented in the warehouse for the safety of all the workers, but request was ignored nothing was done. Amazon failed Poushawn and you put your profits above her life.

We refuse to let Amazon keep looking away from the desolation it has left in the wake of Pou’s death and to treat her life as disposable.

We join Pou’s family's in demanding:

1) An acknowledgement of wrongdoing and a public apology

2) Financial compensation for:
-Poushawn’s daughter Gabby, who is a autistic teenager with special needs and support
-Home health care for Poushawn’s mother whose health problems have been exacerbated after her death and whose care now falls to her mom’s sole daughter, Tina Brown

3) Putting protocols in place to make sure this that no other workers are forced to illegally conduct COVID-19 testing
