#JusticeForReuben | Elevate and Extend the Charges for Child Aggressors Alicia Cale and Wesley Scott Cale, Jr
Meade County State’s Attorney

On September 26th, a 13-year-old Black and Indigenous (Cheyenne River Sioux) child was assaulted by a grown man, Wesley Scott Cale, resulting in a concussion, facial tissue damage, and severe emotional trauma. Wesley’s partner, Alicia Dawn Cale, isolated the child to chastise him (victim blaming) after the assault and failed to report the incident.
Currently, the aggressor and assailant Wesley is the only person facing charges. The charges of simple assault and being out on bond for $150.00 do not adequately reflect the damage and injuries the child, Reuben inflicted.
We are calling on Meade County State’s Attorney Michele Bordewyk to:
- Increase/ Elevate charges to Aggravated Assault for Wesley Scott Cale, Jr.
- Extend the charges to Alicia Cale
It is important to note that there was a lack of care and response by the Box Elder Police Department in providing adequate medical support to Ruben and information to his family after the violent attack took place.
It is crucial to hold individuals accountable when they fail to protect vulnerable children, especially mandated reporters (such as Alicia Dawn Cale) who are legally and morally obligated to report abuse. By allowing an adult man (Wesley Scott Cale) to assault a 13 year old without taking action. Alicia not only violated their duty but also endangered the safety and trust of the child and the community.

Dear Michele Bordewyk,
By signing this petition, I am calling on you to 1) Increase and Elevate the charges to Aggravated Assault for Wesley Scott Cale, Jr. and 2) Extend the charges to his partner Alicia Cale.
The current charges do not adequately reflect the damage and injuries the child inflicted. It is crucial to hold individuals accountable when they fail to protect vulnerable children, especially mandated reporters (such as Alicia Dawn Cale) who are legally and morally obligated to report abuse. By allowing an adult man (Wesley Scott Cale Jr.) to assault a 13 year old without taking action, Alicia not only violated their duty but also endangered the safety and trust of the child and the community.
