Sign the COSMOS petition to demand that the NEC reinstate party democracy

The NEC at a meeting on 30 June voted against allowing CLP's and branches to formally meet, in spite of our petition with in excess of 500 member signatures, (collected in two days).

We call upon the NEC – in its role as the governing body of the Labour Party – to reinstate party democracy and reverse the decision made on 30th June, despite our petition of over 500 signatures, to allow CLP and Branch meetings to go ahead and extend the NPF deadline:

Since the beginning of March 2020, Labour party members have not been able to attend formal CLP and Branch meetings. Five months have now passed. Local government selections cannot be made democratically, nor can there be motions, AGM's or input from members. This situation cannot be allowed to continue.

We call on the NEC to follow its own Rule book and enable CLPs to hold Branch, General Committee and full Executive meetings from July on wards, using online platforms.

The lack of formal meetings has made it much harder for members to participate in the important National Policy Forum (NPF) process, creating a needless barrier to the essential debate we need to have about the future of the country after coronavirus.
